So, as soon as I got these, I put them immediately, by myself. Super easy to do with a couple of large mirrors to work with. I have very light platinum blonde hair. It’s just shy of being completely white. So I was worried the hair would be too dark or too yellow to work with. However, I washed and conditioned with purple shampoo and conditioner and then I toned with the same toner I use on my hair.
It made a HUGE difference. My friend was worried it wouldn’t blend because my hair is so light. But she was amazed when I showed off my hair. It matches perfectly. The hair texture is similar to my overporcessed hair. Not like it feels over processed, but it’s not thick strands of hair, like what I’m used to when I buy dark brown hair extensions uk. It’s thinner stands of hair that match well with my hair at this color. So it’s been a few days now and it does tangle and shed.
I’m not sure if the tangling is due to the smaller hair shaft or that I have been in a car a lot in the last few days driving across the state to visit family and my seatbelt ruffles up my hair. I will say though, even hair I bought that was cuticle aligned, virgin, expensive hair still tangled and shed. I am happy with this hair. It holds curl well, took color well. Looks great. Makes me feel better about myself.
Some folks complain that they’re thin but this is a plus for me. I have very thin fine hair. Coarser strands just don’t match the rest of what’s on my head. Further, heavier extensions are really uncomfortable for someone with thin hair – it pulls on already delicate strands and doesn’t attach securely.
These are terrific – when you find the sweet spot – you really can’t tell that they’re in. Having said that, I don’t think they’re going to get much use – as my hair is thin and fine – I feel like the clips aren’t well-masked enough for me to feel entirely secure (no fault in the design). I think for going out at night – to a club or dimly lit restaurant they’d be fine but for daytime use, which is when I would use them, I would be too nervous that someone could see the clips through my hair.
I have experimented with using them well under and in the back just to beef up my pony tail or braid – I think this application sufficiently masks the clips for any lighting scenario.
First I will say that I have used TONS of real hair extensions. Unfortunately, the hair on many of them – although they indicate “Remy” – are Not high quality. This is why I was sooo happy to see the hair on these extensions. It is very high quality, soft, human, platinum blonde hair. When I put the first extension in, I immediately snapped a selfie b/c the color was so pretty. It is actually the exact color on the listing picture (at least on my PC monitor). Just a pretty platinum that is not too shiny and is the perfect shade. It does Not look bleached or white! Again, it’s natural virgin blonde hair. The clips are quality as well. The one thing people kept saying in reviews about these extensions was that they are thin. I suppose they are slightly thinner than some other remy hair extensions I have tried.
However – for me – and lots of other people – this is a good thing for several reasons! For one, I do not want damage that comes with clipping and taxing the roots of my natural hair with heavy extensions! I do not want anymore thin, or bald spots, than I already have. This is a real problem for many who have processed their hair over and over. These hair extensions uk are lightweight, and I could Not feel them in my hair which I loved. Being lightweight also made it much easier to pull these back into a ponytail, and other different styles. I am so glad I found these for their lighter weight also because the only thing I am really looking for is an outer layer of platinum to add to my hair. I am fine with the thickness of my natural hair just like it is, but I want an outer layer of a lighter shade (sort of like highlights) without processing/highlighting my hair again at the salon.
My natural hair is ash blonde, highlighted with bleach blonde and lowlighted in strawberry blonde. The color was a perfect match. The plus side to these over those is that I can clip them in quickly without much styling and they feel very light and natural on my head. Expensive 200+ gram extensions are incredibly thick and lush but also feel very heavy and can cause a headache if worn all day. These human hair extensions came at 18 inches long instead of the 16 inches advertised, but the last two inches were so thin and stringy I trimmed them off immediately.
I also shaped them: with the extensions laid flat on a table, I shaped the set into kind of a subtle U shape, which made them slightly shorter in front and created some face-framing pieces. My hair is very fine and a bit longer than shoulder length, however I would still need to use 1.5 – 2 sets of these extensions for my hair to look full. This real hair extensions is MUCH too thin to wear just one set straight. I curled it with my waiver to make it look fuller, which helped a lot and made one set wearable (still thin, though). Unlike my expensive sets, this hair gets thinner towards the bottom ends. Expensive sets are usually as thick at the bottom as they are at the top of the weft.
I have to say, I’m very impressed with these remy hair extensions. They are soft, easy to install, and curl easily. I ordered the 20″ 150g set in 1B (Natural Black) and the color is a perfect match to my natural hair. The ends are thinner than I’m used to, but trimming them took care of this (maybe order a few inches longer than you think you need because of this). Other than that, the thickness is perfect. My hair is medium/regular thickness and I don’t even use all of the pieces. I’m interested to see how long these last, with proper care.
